Jacquelyn M. Codd, Esq., was born in San Antonio, Texas. She relocated to Lakeland, Florida with her family at the age of five years old and has been a Polk County native ever since.
She started working in local law firms in 2010 and worked as a paralegal and law clerk throughout her time in undergrad and law school. She consistently focused on clerking in areas which could give her valuable construction, collections, and contract law experience. She also ensured that she spent at least one year working in the area of consumer law and collection defense so that she could learn the tricks of the trade to protect her future clients who are creditors from falling into regulatory compliance traps during their collection actions.
Jacquelyn attended the University of Central Florida for her undergraduate education and received a Bachelors of Science in Legal Studies, but also had a strong pre-medical studies focus since she enjoys always learning new things. Jacquelyn attended Stetson University College of Law while also working full time as a Director of Human Resources for a business marketing firm where she managed a large salesforce. From this experience she gained valuable business management insight and experience navigating the labor compliance field so that she can better relate to her clients, most of which are business owners. Jacquelyn graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2018.
Since her admission to the Bar, Jacquelyn has primarily practiced in the areas of construction, collections, and contract drafting and disputes. She also has experience in business and insurance litigation, real estate, probate, and estate planning. She believes law is best practiced through active listening and will always take the time to hear not only the nature of your dispute, but your personal goals for its resolution – even if they depart from the normal path.
Jacquelyn is a member of the Polk Association for Women Lawyers, the Federalist Society, and the Polk County Trial Lawyers Association. In 2024, Jacquelyn received the honor of being named a member of Superlawyers’ Rising Stars. Jacquelyn serves her community via her appointment to the Polk County Sidewalk Advisory Committee. In her free time, she enjoys installing performance modifications on her Purple Dodge Challenger. Jacquelyn also enjoys rehabilitating injured animals, partnering with local humane trap-neuter-release programs, rescuing and finding forever-homes for feral cats, and playing with her special needs kitten, Noodle.
